If it wasn't already clear, it's totally Summer. I've spent the last few weeks completely oblivious to the fact I hadn't written a blog post for the month yet, and absolutely terrified because I knew I only had a few weeks before school started... where did the summer go?!
If I'm being honest, I've been reading a lot of comics lately and completely ignoring the fact I have summer homework I should be doing... well, what's another book to keep me entertained between school activities? Besides, re-reading books is so much fun!
THIS MONTH'S BOOK: Inhuman by Kat Falls
Genre: Science Fiction, Dystopian
Published: September 2013 (I know what you're thinking. A September book in August?! Really?)
About: I don't know what it is about Dystopian books, but I love them! This book just so happened to be another one of those reads my good friend suggested. While it did have a slow start, reading about people who turned into animals, well, it kind of caught my attention.
SETTING:
Just the other day, I went outside on a gorgeous day, got down in the grass with my cat and just lay soaking up the sunshine. Laying the the grass, for me, is an uncommon activity, mostly because grass just makes me itch... but you know what? It was so comfortable!
All you people out there with allergies, feel free to ignore my advice, but I have to admit, laying down under the shade of a tree in the grass just felt like the perfect place to read a book. Sure, when you think of dystopian end-of-the-world books you don't think about bright sunshine and grass, but I couldn't think of a better place to read a book in the middle of August.
If you aren't a fan of the grass and would prefer the sand, be my guest. Besides, summer has flown by. It's good to get those last few beach days in while you still can.
Whether you read Inhuman or some other book of your choosing, there's no better place than in the midst of nature. It just might be a good idea to plan for the least hottest part of the day.
I suggest lathering yourself in sunscreen before laying out in the sunshine :)
Happy reads everyone!
