Montana Snow

Oddly enough, it's December, and there wasn't much snow on the ground in the beginning of the month. I was really happy, until it snowed just the other day, and I have a feeling it will keep on coming. The deer have thick coats this year, which means sooner or later we're going to get dumped on with a lot more than a few inches. I know what you're probably thinking: "You live in Montana, you must love the snow. So why are you unhappy there's snow?" Number one, I don't ski. I know, I know, big shocker for someone who has lived in Montana all her life, but I don't.

For the first few weeks of December, where I live in the southern part of Montana, we'd been having 40 degree weather, which is warm for Montana winter months. It was just late this year, but even though the most likely solution to having multiple feet of snow is to cancel school, that's not going to happen in Montana. First thing you need to know as a Montana Teen, school will never be cancelled in the winter. The closest I ever got to having my school day cancelled, all they did was start school an hour later. That wasn't even because of the snow, it was because it was below -20 degrees Fahrenheit outside!

Speaking of snow and cold, I LOVE snow cones. I know I just went off topic, but can you argue that snow cones are AWESOME! I would totally be having a snow cone right now, but they just aren't winter foods. If you mix chilly weather with chilly snow cones, you get COLD. Not that I'd eat a snow cone outside in the middle of winter, but you get my point.

Even though I don't like a whole lot of snow, a little doesn't hurt, so I can't wait to see if Montana will have another white Christmas! Merry Christmas!

  1. We received about 3 inches of snow yesterday, not much for almost the end of December. Every day there is no snow is a day closer to spring. Merry Christmas !
