Being 150% nerd, the term nerd just doesn't cut it. I mean, nerd should stand for something right? The dictionary defines nerd as, and I quote, "A foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious." Yep, that about sums it up, but not entirely...
N in N.E.R.D. - Noteworthy
Seriously, society should really complement nerds for their incredible skills. Yes, nerd is a very outdated term, but it is a noteworthy skill (despite the fact that nerds have little to no social skills...). Nerds are 150% noteworthy (interesting AND important).
E in N.E.R.D. - Eavesdropper
In other words, a snoop. Now this may just be me, but I believe that all nerds are eavesdroppers. With barely any social skills, nerds turn to eavesdropping to learn about people on a personal level.
R in N.E.R.D. - Rambler
Lively and exciting. Now you have to agree with me here, in movies nerds are the most lively and exciting characters.. they just are a little weird in real life (describes myself perfectly), because they talk fast, confusingly, and at length. They are Rambles at heart.
D in N.E.R.D. - Deviant
Different from what is considered normal. Shall I say more... This just about sums up nerd. It could even define nerd. The nerd kind is depleting... I may very well be the last of the nerdy kind. Okay... probably not... hopeless thinking..
To sum up the word nerd, or rather N.E.R.D., I believe that every letter stands for something. N for Noteworthy, E for Eavesdropper, R for Rambler, and D for Deviant. However, the nerd kind is slowly dying out (yes, I say that like a Nerd is a tribe, 'cause it is).
Some advice for the road: EMBRACE YOUR INNER N.E.R.D.!!!!!!
